Parque Warner Madrid Guide

Parque Warner Madrid Guide โ€“ Our Tips for an Amazing Visit ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ธ

We love theme parks but walking into Parque Warner Madrid feels less like a theme park and more like stepping onto a massive Hollywood film set. The attention to detail here is amazing and it is easily one of the best theme parks in Spain.

The best ride by far is definitely Batman Gotham City Escape, a multi-launch coaster thatโ€™s probably the best roller coaster we’ve ever been on, and we’ve been on a lot!

But itโ€™s not just a one-hit wonder. The park is packed with great thrill rides, unique dark rides and themed lands that actually feel immersive. We’d find it hard to pick between this and PortAventura for the best theme park in Spain.

You’ll see the Looney Tunes, DC superheroes and loads of other movie characters from the world of Warner Bros. We’re BIG Warner fans! This was actually our third WB park after Warner Bros. Movie World in Australia and Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi!

We had such an epic day at Parque Warner Madrid and can’t wait for another visit!

Where is Parque Warner Madrid?

Parque Warner is located about 25km (15 miles) southeast of Madrid. It’s a bit outside the city and feels miles away from the hustle of the capital. The nearest major hub is Madrid itself but you’re looking at a 30-45 minute drive to get to the park or longer if you take the train.

Getting there is straightforward enough, but it does take a bit of planning if you don’t have a car.

Getting There

We flew into Madrid-Barajas Airport and because it’s such a major hub, flight options are great. Once you land, getting to the park is pretty simple.

  • By Car: If you want to explore more of Spain, renting a car is the best bet. Itโ€™s a 30-minute drive down the A-4 motorway (Exit 22). Parking is huge (and paid) but having your own car makes getting there a little easier and quicker. We always check Discover Cars to compare prices before we go as they usually find the cheapest deals from the airport.
  • By Train & Bus: This is the most common budget option. You need to take the C3 Cercanรญas train (Direction Aranjuez) from Sol or Atocha stations to Pinto. From right outside Pinto station, you just hop on the 413 Bus which drops you right at the park gates. The whole journey takes about an hour and is very cheap.
  • By Direct Bus: You can also catch the 412 Bus directly from the Villaverde Bajo interchange in Madrid (accessible via Metro Line 3). It takes about 35 minutes to reach the park but check the timetable in advance as it runs less frequently than the train connection.
  • The Shuttle: There’s the official Bus + Ticket deal from Estaciรณn Sur (Mรฉndez รlvaro). This was the option we went for and found it easy enough. Itโ€™s a dedicated coach that takes you straight to the gate but just keep an eye on the return times so you don’t miss your ride home!

Parking & Arrival

Parking isn’t free (it costs from โ‚ฌ12 if you book online) and the car park is absolutely massive. Make sure you take a photo of your row number or drop a pin on your maps app!

Getting into the park can take a little time. You first have to pass through a security bag check (they are checking for glass bottles and dangerous items, though they’re usually fine with standard food/water). After that, you hit the turnstiles.

Once you’re in, the entrance is stunning. There’s Art Deco buildings, palm trees and iconic movie scores playing over the speakers. It sets the scene perfectly. It’s flashy than the Hollywood entrances you get in Universal parks, especially the covered ones in Beijing and Singapore, but it’s more authentic. We loved it.

The park usually opens the gates about 30 minutes before the rides actually start. We recommend arriving early to get through security and be standing at the rope drop on Hollywood Boulevard ready to run to Batman!

Where to Stay

Unlike a lot of other major theme parks, there’s no onsite hotels here. You generally have two main choices:

  • Madrid City Centre: We recommend staying near Estaciรณn Sur (Mรฉndez รlvaro) if you’re using public transport or getting the shuttle. Once you’re near a Metro station in Madrid though, you’ll be able to get there easy enough.
  • Pinto: This is the nearest town to the park. Itโ€™s much quieter and cheaper than the city centre but perfect if you just want somewhere near. Itโ€™s only a 10-minute drive or bus ride (on the 413) to the gates. You can check out the best deals on hotels in Pinto here to find something that fits your budget.

Other Attractions at the Resort

Beyond the main theme park, the only other major attraction here is the water park called Parque Warner Beach. Itโ€™s right next door but operates as a completely separate gate so it’s not included in your standard entry ticket.

The water park is themed around DC Comics and Looney Tunes with rides like Wonder Woman: El Lazo Mรกgico and The Joker. It’s strictly seasonal and open from mid-June to early September.

You can book your Parque Warner Beach tickets on GetYourGuide in advance to make sure you get in, as it can hit capacity on hot days.

Getting Your Tickets

There’s one thing we ALWAYS say about theme parks: never buy your tickets at the gate. You’ll always pay more than the online price and you end up wasting time standing in queues before you even get in.

We recommend getting your Parque Warner Entry Ticket on GetYourGuide in advance so you can walk straight to the turnstiles and scan the barcode on your phone.

Useful Info

  • Pase Correcaminos (Fastrack): On summer weekends, the lines for the big coasters can be crazy. There’s different levels of passes. The Platinum one lets you go on most things an unlimited amount of times (Gotham City Escape is limited). We got the Gold which let’s you fast track once per ride. We probably could have done without it on our visit.
  • Ride Access Pass: For guests with disabilities, the park has a dedicated pass and youโ€™ll need to head to Guest Services on Hollywood Boulevard with your documentation to sort it out.
  • Height Restrictions: The height restrictions at Parque Warner vary a lot more than other parks. You can check every ride in advance on the official site here.
  • The Heat: Just a reminder that Madrid is hot in the Summer and some areas don’t have a lot of shade so factor that in. We got sunburnt and it was only Spring!

Denis is a big fan of Scooby Doo AND teacup rides so this was a great day for him!

Themed Areas & Attractions

The park is split into six themed areas, each with its own atmosphere. Some of the theming we really loved. Here’s our highlights.

Hollywood Boulevard

This is the entrance plaza. Itโ€™s probably the most authentic Hollywood themed entrance at any park we’d been to with Art Deco buildings, palm trees and the Chinese Theatre. Itโ€™s mostly shops and restaurants but it sets the movie vibe from the start.

DC Super Heroes World – Gotham

When you walk through the portal, the mood changes into the dark, gritty world of Batman and his villains. We love Batman!

  • Batman Gotham City Escape: This is one of our favourite roller coasters in the world. Itโ€™s a multi-launch Intamin coaster that starts inside Wayne Manor with immersive storytelling, amazing effects and incredible airtime.
  • Shadows of Arkham: An intense B&M inverted coaster with great theming that’s fast and whippy. We really enjoyed it.
  • La Venganza del Enigma: Europe’s tallest drop tower at 115m high. There’s a spaceshot mode too!

DC Super Heroes World – Metropolis

This is home to the Daily Planet and the Justice League where you’ll meet heroes like Superman and Wonder Woman. It’s got some good rides too!

  • Superman La Atracciรณn de Acero: A floorless coaster thatโ€™s world-class. Much better than we expected. It feels like you’re actually flying.
  • Lex Luthor Invertatron: A Top Spin that’s probably not the most intense we’ve ever been on but that’s not a bit thing. We liked it.

Movie World Studios

This area feels like the backlot of a Hollywood studio. It’s quieter and home to some real classics.

  • Stunt Fall: This is a Giant Inverted Boomerang and there’s very few of these left in the world. It lifts you up and drops you vertically…twice. Great fun.
  • Hotel Embrujado: Don’t skip this thinking it’s a boring walk-through. It’s a Mad House ride where the room spins around you and it’s brilliant.
  • Police Academy Stunt Show: This is a live stunt show featuring car chases, explosions and precision driving. It’s loud, fun and a great way to rest your feet for 30 minutes. It could do with a retheme to be honest.

Old West Territory

There’s SO MANY Wild West areas at theme parks but this is easily one of the best there is. It’s got some great rides too.

  • Coaster Express: This is one of the longest wooden coasters in Europe. It looks stunning but it will rattle you to bits!
  • Rio Bravo: A fantastic flume ride that takes you through a gold mine. It has a surprise backwards drop and you will get wet.
  • Expedientes Warren: This is a paid horror maze based on The Conjuring movies. It costs a few euro extra but it’s definitely worth the money, especially if you like the movies.

Rio Bravo is one of our favourite log flume rides we’ve been on. The theming is great.

Cartoon Village

This is the largest children’s area in Spain. Itโ€™s themed around the Looney Tunes and is honestly one of the best-looking kids’ areas we’ve seen in any park. Even if you don’t have kids, it’s worth a walk through just to see Bugs Bunny’s burrow!

  • La Aventura de Scooby-Doo: A dark ride where you shoot lasers at ghosts in the Mystery Mansion. We got very competitive but it’s great fun.
  • Correcaminos Bip, Bip: A really fun family coaster that packs a bit of a punch AND it’s themed around Wile E Coyote and Road Runner!
  • ACME Rapids: The Looney Tunes theming is AMAZING. It’s the wildest rapids ride we’ve ever been on and will properly throw you around a bit so hold on tight.

Acme Rapids is great fun! A bit rough but fun all the same.

Food & Drink

Theme park food is usually a bit of a gamble but here’s three solid options.

  • Foster’s Hollywood: Located right on Hollywood Boulevard, this is a proper sit-down restaurant with table service (and air conditioning!) Itโ€™s an American chain famous for its Bacon Cheese Fries, ribs and burgers. It takes a bit longer than a quick-service window but itโ€™s a great way to escape the heat for an hour.
  • Jack’s Fish Market: This is in a nice spot in Movie World Studios and they don’t actually sell fish! Itโ€™s a quick-service spot that does huge XXL baguettes and fresh sandwiches. Itโ€™s one of the healthier and faster options if you just want to grab lunch and get back to the rides. We really liked it.
  • Cantina de los Bandidos: This is the big Mexican spot in the Old West Territory. The portions here are decent. Itโ€™s simple, greasy and exactly what you need after a morning of walking.

Shopping

The main shopping is on Hollywood Boulevard which is basically split down the middle. On one side, there’s the massive DC Super Heroes store where you can get everything from Batman capes to villain merch. Opposite that is the imaginatively named Department Store which is full of Looney Tunes stuff.

Our main piece of advice here is to walk straight past them when you arrive. These shops stay open right until the very end of the night, often after the rides have closed. It’s much smarter to save your shopping for the exit so you aren’t stuck carrying bags (or a giant Tweety Bird) around the park all day.

Essential Tips for Your Visit

  • Download the App: They don’t do paper maps anymore so you need the official app for live wait times and show schedules.
  • Eat Early: Locals eat late so grab lunch about 12:30pm to beat the rush and ride the coasters while everyone else is eating.
  • Bring a Water Bottle: Save a fortune by bringing a refillable bottle and topping it up at the fountains around the park.
  • Pack a Poncho: Unless it’s the height of summer, bring a cheap poncho for the water rides so you don’t end up soggy and cold.

Parque Warner Madrid is probably the most underrated theme park in Europe right now. It doesn’t get the same hype as PortAventura or Disneyland Paris but that works in your favour because itโ€™s cheaper and quieter.

And let’s be honest, Gotham City Escape is probably one of the best rollercoasters in the world, not just in Spain. If you’re looking for a new spot that’s easy to get to, easy on the wallet and just a short train ride from one of the coolest cities in Europe, Parque Warner Madrid is absolutely worth visiting.
